Police probe suspicious items found by dog owners
Police are investigating whether pets are being targeted after a recent string of suspicious discoveries by dog owners, including unmarked pills and a spiked cow tongue.
A man walking his dog Sunday called police after discovering the cow tongue in a wooded area near the Phil White Arena, with at least eight one-foot nails through it.
Police are considering it a prank, said Sgt. Travers Wynne.
“It is not our belief that this was a sabotage or attempt to endanger the life of an animal,” said Wynne.
